2023 Topps Tier One Baseball Hobby Box Value and Pricing

The Topps Tier One Baseball Hobby Box is not meant to be a collection that casual collectors purchase as their entry to card collecting. It is a premium set with some cards that will exceed four and five figures in value. As a result, boxes are sold for $350. Although this looks expensive, it is not unusual for premium sets like this one. Many premium sets will be more costly than this one. As a result, people looking to start collecting premium cards and autographs should look at this Topps collection as an appealing option.

Investment Potential

Many people collect do not just buy cards to display them in their homes for years and years, but for them to accumulate value and eventually sell them at a profit. This set is still very new, so we cannot say with certainty what investment trends will look like in the coming years. That said, Topps is one of the top brands in the industry, and the Tier One set is released every year. Every annual set has cards that reach very high values. So, we can say with confidence that there will be cards from this set that will be incredibly valuable in the future.

The cards you should expect to reach the highest peak value are the autograph relics, especially the platinum versions. Most platinum versions are 1 of 1, so they will be in high demand. That said, it is very likely that some cards in all categories will become very valuable.

Currently, the most valuable card on eBay is the 2023 Topps Tier One Pete Alonso Limited Lumber Auto 1/1 Bat Barrel. It is graded PSA 9 and is up for sale for $2222.

Strategic Considerations

You should apply different strategies depending on the cards you receive in a box set. Some cards you can expect to increase in value over time, no matter what. For example, cards featuring present or past legends and game-used memorabilia will likely remain valuable indefinitely. However, cards not featuring established stars can swing big in other directions. Young Guns cards can become extremely valuable if the player goes on to have a Hall of Fame career, but if they fade into obscurity, so will the card. So, you need to consider these things before deciding whether to sell the card now or wait.

Unique Non-Baseball Cards

The 2023 Topps Tier One Baseball Hobby Box includes a handful of cards for non-baseball players. They fall into the cut signature category. Here are the names of celebrities found in this set:

  • Arnold Palmer
  • Buck Leonard
  • Barack Obama
  • Buck O’Neil
  • Clint Eastwood
  • David Bowie
  • Ed Koch
  • Gary Coleman
  • John Wayne
  • Leonardo DiCaprio
  • Marlon Brando
  • Monty Hall
  • Neil Simon
